On Being Numerous: Bodily Ecologies &
The Intelligence of the Interstitial
Scientific research increasingly shows that biological novelty is created by horizontal fusions between species. Our very cells are the product of an ancient bacterial merger. Whole landscapes and species are only possible because beings decided to co-become. In a culture that enshrines the individual, what health and resilience have we denied ourselves? Is it possible that there are better futures visible only from the vantage point of symbiotic collaboration? More simply, with every spore-threaded breath we are but built and rebuilt from our physical environment. When we choose to inhale otherness, we acknowledge the intelligence of our bodies is not solitary, it is relational. Our bodies are open systems, waiting for the right questioning touch. In an age of ecological crisis and unforeseen change, future worlds may only become thinkable when we think between belief systems and between bodies.

Making New Neural Connections to Solve Old Problems
Albert Einstein said: “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” So how do we come up with new thoughts? How do we make new brain connections? What is the process of creating a flexible brain, capable of coming up with new solutions to new problems? How do we learn to never be “stuck”?
Dr. Feldenkrais found a process for making our movements more flexible and easy. He observed that the improvement of our movement offers a model of flexibility that the brain will generalize to all areas of life. The alleviation of aches and pains and other limitations is only the beginning of the seemingly miraculous results of this process.

Short Bio: | Linda Tellington-Jones PhD (Hon) graduated from the first Feldenkrais professional training taught by Moshe Feldenkrais at the Humanistic Psychology Institute in San Francisco in 1978. At that time she was already internationally renowned for her contributions to the horse world but was looking for new possibilities and ways to enhance learning and overall function. This introduction to Feldenkrais, in combination with her fascination with cellular intelligence, resulted in the development of the Tellington TTouch® Method that has spread to 5 continents. It is a gentle method for improving behavior, performance, wellbeing and enhanced learning for all animals. It is also widely successful for use for human healthcare. Linda has written 21 books published in 16 languages. She lives in Florida with her husband, Roland Kleger, and their dog, Griffin. |
